Harry Potter by JK Rowling My first favorite book since I read Into the Land of the Unicorns when I was young. It still remains my absolute favorite. It's very interesting and original. It's not overly childish for a kid's book. There're no long decriptons and the action keeps going. There's always something going on. I love these books and they're the only books that I go all fangirlish over (visiting websites for and such)
Come on, it's Harry Potter. You know the story. If you haven't read it yet, please drop all preconviced notions and read it for yourself before judging it. You won't be struck down by lightning and it won't make you evil. Unless you consider me evil (*cackles*)

Artemis Fowl by Eion Colfer After reading Colfer's other book, The Wish List, I came to the conclusion that I really don't like his writing ^_^; I'm pretty sure I only like this series because I love Artemis so much. He's my favorite book character *heart*
Arty (can't resist calling him that)is an evil boy genius (a wonderful conbination) and he still is young enough to belive in fairies ^_^. He comes up with a scheme to capture a fairy and ransom it for all the fairies' gold. Brilliant story. Arty is just so great.

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket Really funny books. My kind of humor. I also think these were the first books of their kind. Now you're seeing lots of copy catters XP Well, I like them because they were so different when they first came out and for some reason they just suck me in and fascinate me. They get better with each book.
The adventures of three orphaned siblings trying to escape from the evil Count Olaf who is after their family fortune. Along the way, they slowly learn of a mysterious organization called VFD, which Count Olaf, the children's parents and many people they meet along the way are some how conected to.

Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones The epitome of originality and good writting. It's the perfect fantasy book. And it gets bonus points for being made into an anime movie by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. It's like a dream! Two of the world's most brilliant creative minds (Jones and Miyazaki) working together! Kyaaaaaaa!
A girl named Sophie is turned into an old lady by an evil witch. Having then nothing to fear from the wizard in the nearby floating castle who is supossed to eat young girls, Sophie walks right up and knocks on the door. She eventualy comes to live in the castle with the wizard Howl, who is actualy quite whiney and lazy. I love Howl. He's so funny ^_^

The Chronicles of Chrestomanci by Diana Wynne Jones Another wonderfly original series from Ms. Jones. The first two books Charmed Life and The Lives of Christopher Chant are the best. You gotta love a story about a boy with nine lives. Although, I didn't like in Witch Week when Charles was buring his finger >_< Far too much detail! I was getting all squirmy.
All four books are stories related to the very impressive wizard Crestomanci. Charmed Life is about two young siblings who are sent to live with Crestomanci, Chris Chant is about Crestomanci's childhood, and the other books have almost cameo apearences from him. In Witch Week a boy named Charles finds he might be a witch in a world were witchs are burned at the stake. Caprona is about two feuding magical familes, I think. It wasn't very good and didn't stay with me.
Rating: 5/5 for Charmed Life, The Lives of Christopher Chant, and Witch Week 3/5 for Magicians of Caprona

Broken Sky by Chris Wooding An anime inspired book (Mr. Wooding is an anime fan). I like the amatuerish feel of the books. It seems like Mr. Wooding isn't a professional nor is he great at writting, but he seems to try so hard ^_^ It feels like something you'd read on FictionPress.net . Broken Sky does have alot of good ideas in it.
Two siblings live on a wyvern ranch. Shortly after a young girl who is mysteriously afraid of mirrors comes to stay with them, the ranch is burned down and the kids are sent out into the world. Eh...the rest is hard to explain. Please read it for your self. I love these books very much and I would love if more people would read them. They're also pretty short. Good if you don't have much reading time.

The Pit Dragon Trilogy by Jane Yolen Heh, heh... These books remind me of shonen anime ^_^;; Avarage boys trains to be the best at some thing (this time raising dragons to fight each other Pokemon style) and comes out on top. Lots of twists, though and great writting. The second two books take a way different direction then the first. Good stuff. Check it out if you like Dragons.
