Chapter3-
"Oh, look, Kumo! There's
the clothes shop!"
"Clothes!?!?! You look just fine they way you are!"
"You're kidding. Right?"
"..."
"I'm in a torn up, old, purple school uniform!"
"Fine..."
"Great!"
We went into the clothes shop. I looked for a few minutes. Kumo looked bored to
death and kept mumbling, but I tried to ignore him. Ah! That looks cool! I
grabbed the outfit and flew into the dressing room.
"Hurry up in there, Bishoujo! We don't have all
day!"
I finally emerged from the dressing room. Kumo stared at me.
"Well..." I asked.
"'Well' what?"
"What do you think, baka!?"
"It's nice..."
"Good."
I had on a black t-shirt, a leopard print shirt over it, gray pants, I had put
my hair in braids with those ponytail holders, and the rat was on my head.
"Come on. Let's go." Kumo said.
"Where?"
"My house. It's sort of far."
"Oh."
We walked out of the shop and when about a half mile down the road. I went off
to the side and sat down.
"I don't feel good. Can we...(I coughed a few
times)...rest?"
"All right" Kumo sat down next to me.
"Tell me your story. I mean how you found me lying there in the road and
all."
"I was on my way into town and saw you lying there. I picked you up, sat
you by a tree and waited for you to come around. That's all."
"Hmm..."
There's some thing mysterious about him. I don't know what it is. Why am I even
following him like we're best friends? He claims to have saved me and I follow
him like he's my boyfriend!
Just then a girl came up to us.
"I'm in a huge hurry to get some where and I'm lost! Can you help?"
she said. She looked a little older than we did. She had long brown hair, brown
eyes, and a rather stunning face. A mysterious yet strangely
normal girl.
"Where do you want to go...um...I didn't catch your name..."
said Kumo.
"Because I didn't give it. My name's Heza. I have
to get to
"Why are you so special that you get to see the royal family?" I
asked. I had never heard of this palace or any thing being new here and all,
but knowing some one who knows the ruler could come in handy.
"Okay, Heza-Chan! We're gonna pass it on our way
to..." Kumo was cut off.
"Heza-Chan!? Call me Heza!"
"Ignore him. My name's Kurai, he calls me Bishoujo."
I said meaning that he gives people weird names. Heza gave me that ‘You just
sprouted a third head’ look.
"Well, I don't know what that means, so…" she said and I gave her an
odd look.
"Just
kidding." She
said and smiled.
"You didn't answer my question." I said.
"It’s none of your business."
"As I was saying, we're gonna pass it on our way
to my house..." said Kumo
"I’m really gonna be late and you guys are slow.
Bye." and with that Heza turned and left.
We walked for a bit more down
the dirt road. Nothing in sight. Just
road and grass. I really don't feel good. Maybe I should... I collapsed.
"Kurai!" Kumo ran over to me and sat down by
me. "Come on. I'll carry you." he smiled sweetly and I nodded my
head. He put me on his back. A long time passed. I must've fallen asleep. When
I woke up the sun was setting.
"I slept for a while, didn’t I?" I asked
"Oh! You're awake! I was just really worried about you. I don't have any
other friends so if I lost you..."
"You only met me a few hours ago." I said sleepily. I have to stay
awake a bit longer, though.
"It seems like more..."
That's the last I heard. I had fallen asleep. When I woke up I was in a very
soft bed in a small poorly decorated guestroom. Kumo was looking out the
window. He turned around when he heard me sit up. He walked over and sat on the
bed.
"How do you feel?"
"Better. Did we pass that castle last night?"
"I'm glad to hear that. You had me really worried. Yes. You were
asleep." he said smiling.
"Is this your house?"
"Yeah."
"Where are your parents?"
"They went on a business trip for half a month."
"They must really trust you."
"Not really. They don't care about me or the house."
"Oh..."
"Do you want some break fast? I made blueberry pancakes and blueberry
muffins." he was still smiling. He had a very nice smile.
"Um, sure. You must really like
blueberries."
"Not really. I'm just too lazy to go shopping and there's a blueberry bush
out side."
I sweat dropped and tried to get up. Kumo pushed me back.
"Stay there. Break fast in bed, Bishoujo."
he smiled again.
He left the room. This isn't right! He's being too nice! We just met! Oh, well.
It is sort of nice being treated like this. Kumo walked back in with a tray.
"Here. I'm sure it's not that good. You probably ate much better at
home..."
I took a bite of a muffin. "Nonsense! It's great!
Your better than my mom...was."
"Thank you. Oh. That's right. That guy killed your parents. It's okay,
though. I'll protect you. I promise to always be by your side and never let any
thing happen to you. Okay?" Man! This guy has the sweetest smiles! The kid
could melt butter!
"Thank you." I gave him a weak smile. I hope I said the right thing.
If there was any thing I wanted to say I should say it now.
We sat in peace for a while. I ate my break fast (in which every thing had blue
berries in it) and Kumo sat on the edge of the bed staring at me.
"Stop staring."
"I'm not. I'm just thinking."
"Hmm... Thinking..." I mumbled.
I started thinking about all that happened.
"Hey! Where's my rat!" I had forgotten all about him. It could
probably be blamed on being so exhausted yesterday.
"In a cage in the living room. My hamster died
last week and I didn’t toss the cage yet."
"May I take a tour of the
house?"
"Sure."
I got out of bed.
"This is my room."
"Ack! Your room!?! It looks like a guest
room!" The room was white with a gray carpet and a few pieces of
furniture.
"What's wrong with it?"
"Nothing I guess..."
We walked around the house with Kumo pointing out various things. We went out
to the back yard and sat on some rocks.
"Where did you sleep last night if I had the bed?" I asked.
"I didn't."
"Really? Why not?"
"I just couldn't"
"But why?"
"I was wondering what I'm going to do with you. Okay?" snapped Kumo.
"Huh?"
"You can't stay here forever. My parents aren't going to like finding a
girl in the house when they come back." he looked
so sad! It's strange. I've never seen him any thing other then extremely
cheerful.
"Don't look like that. If you look sad any longer I'm going to cry! You
said your parents don't care about you. Right? So
don't why we...not exactly run away, but-" his face looked happy again. He
grabbed my hands.
"That's great! We'll stay here for a few days then I'll write Mom a note
saying I went on along trip and I might not be back for a while!"
I shook my head. "Think for a minute. Were could we possibly go?"
"Hmm... good
point...maybe we could camp out and stay at inns until we find a place."
"It might work."
