This was written when I was only 12 (16 now ^_^;;;;) so the writing’s not all that great, okay? I’d like to think it gets better as it goes on.

Also, sorry for the weird paragraphing. My comp’s crashed so many times in those years so this has been downloaded, copied, and/or saved from so many different locations that the formatting’s gotten funky.

Chapter1-

Trapped. Trapped, trapped, trapped, trapped! It's hopeless. My feeble attempts were useless. I had been trapped before. Like the time I was locked in an outhouse for 3 hours (it wasn't funny!). But never trapped like this.
"UUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!" I screeched and started banging the back of my head on the wall. My remaining braid (I had two when I came here) popped out and the ponytail holder went flying. I touched the back of my head. Bleeding. It didn't matter. I was starting to
forget I how I got here. The thousands of times (well maybe not that many, but...) I've banged my head must be taking affect. I looked at my mundane surroundings again. I did a double take.
"What? A loose brick! Oh, my gosh! Why didn't I see that before!" I said excitedly but not too
loud so a guard would come, or worse, Him.
I kicked at the brick until it popped out. After that the
remaining bricks were easy to pull out. I was about to get out through the hole I made, but I
tuned around to get my ponytail holders first. I stuffed them in my pocket. Then I squeezed
through the hole. A rat followed me but I thought nothing of it. I ran for an hour until I was
about to collapse. I sat down by a tree. I hope they didn't realize I was gone. The rat that had followed me out crawled on my head.
"Hello. You're still following me? That's odd..." I petted his head.
After a while I stood up. The rat crawled in my pocket. I was about to shoo him/her/it away, but
I thought it might be nice to have a friend.

I looked around. A road sign!
"Allensburgh two miles to the right," I read, "Allensburgh. Sounds like a nice place. Huh, rat?"
The rat squeaked.
We (I had made good friends with the rat during the two miles) finally got into town. I took note
of some useful shops. Ah! A clothes shop. I looked down at my purple school uniform and frowned.
Very torn up and filthy. I passed a puddle and saw my reflection. I looked awful. I reached into
my pocket for the fuzzy, blue ponytail holders.
"Look! There she is!"
Oh, man! This isn't good! It's one of the guards! I ran but it did no good. They caught me and
knocked me.

"Why did you do that?"
I kept my eyes closed. I knew who was talking. I didn't say any thing.
"Too bad you had escaped so early in the morning. I'm very tired and I can't think of any thing
to say to you. Guards, Cell 13. Beat her in a few hours."
I kept my eyes closed. Cell 13, unlucky number. Must be one of the worst cells. When they took me to the cell I opened my eyes. I checked my two pockets. Ponytail holders
in one...rat in the other! The rat was still alive! Cell 13 wasn't the worst. Just hardest to
escape from.
Metal walls. No windows.
"It's over." I sighed.

Chapter 2-

"Hey, kid!"
I woke up. It must've been about
1:00 in the morning. A guard was yelling at me.
"Huh?" I asked, my brain still in a sleep fog.
"The boss wants to see you."
"Why?" Oh great. Him.
"
Just come on!" he grabbed my arm and took me out the door and down the hall. A female guard who grabbed my other arm soon joined him.

CHINK, CHINK, CHINK.

What was that sound? Just then a large tile popped out of the ceiling and landed on the female guard's head knocking her out. Some one jumped out of the hole in the ceiling made by the falling tile and landed on top of the other guard, knocking him out. I stared blankly at the scene.
"Um... That was easy..." said the person that came out of the ceiling.
"..." What just happened?
"I've come to help you. Come on!"
"..." Who is this guy?
"Oh! We don't have time for this!" He scooped me up and draped me over his shoulder. Very uncomfortable. The guy was only a few inches taller than I was. I couldn’t really see what he looked like. He was wearing a hooded cape (would you call that a cloak?). I decide not to try to get free. For sure he doesn't work here, so were ever we're going must be better than here. He must be taking me out side. I can get away when we get out there. After a while of going through the dark, dingy halls with surprisingly no guards, we were out side. He finally put me down. Maybe I should go. I could just run away. Not yet…
"Who are you?" I asked. Too late. I shouldn't've thought for so long. Thinking too much always gets me in trouble. The guards are coming.
"Go! Now!" the guy pulled out a sword.
"..." I stared blankly.
"GO!!!"
I turned to run but...
"What's your name!?"
"Suteki. Now go!!!"
I ran toward the town I had been to yesterday. I wish they'd fed me today. Very hungry. Rat? I checked my pockets. He wasn't there. I hope I didn't drop him some where. I was going too slow. I started running, but a little too fast. I tripped over a rock. I didn't really go unconscious. More like fell asleep. I was far away from the battle (if it was still going on).

"Good morning, Bishoujo." a very gentle male voice said. I opened an eye half way. A gray eye was looking in it! I opened my other eye and backed up against the tree I had been lying under. A boy with short, messy purple hair, that was definatly in need of combing, was smiling at me. He could've been three years older than me at the most. He had on a blue shirt and jeans. People from around here usually wear stuff a bit more fancy.
"Why are all those guards after you?" he asked
"They're still after me!?"
"They were but I got rid of them..."
"How?!"
"Later.
They might come back."
"Hold it! Where's my rat?"
"In my pack."
"
How can I trust you?"
"I saved you! Now, come on, Bishoujo." he said and helped me up. He let me stand on my own but I started to fall down.
"Maybe we should stay here a bit longer than." he said and gave me a concerned look.
"My name isn't Bishoujo. It's Kurai." I said blushing as we sat back down. (Note: bishoujo means 'pretty girl' ^_^;).
"Fine, Bishoujo. Tell me why those guards are (or were) chasing you."
"All right... Wait! What's your name?"
"Kumo. Now tell me."
"Okay. I don't know the whole story. I only know my part in it, but here it goes. I was in the play ground at school when the guards came in. All of the students became very quiet. I had no idea what they wanted, but I soon found out. I was grabbed by the arm and led to a carriage. They tied me up. When they took me out we were at a sort of prison…"
"That explains the school uniform." Kumo interrupted.
"Yes. Were was I...um...oh, yeah! They took me to this room where I met Him. Now that I come to think of it he wasn't all that bad. Any way, he was only about your age. How old are you any way?"
"Sixteen."
"Oh. I'm fourteen. Then he told me that my parents owed him some thing. He rambled about it, but he really didn’t make much sence to me. I think it all was a fancy way of saying they owed him, though. He said he 'got rid' of them. Since I didn't really do any thing wrong he decided to go 'easy' on me…" Then I explained were I met the rat and that guy who saved me.
"Wow! You've had a busy day, Bishoujo!" said Kumo.
"Yes. You could show some sympathy, though. Now, I want my rat."
"Here." he took the rat out of a pocket in his bag. I took the rat and hugged it. "Try to stand again." he told me. I stood up. I could walk!
"Good." He put an arm around me to hold me up. "Let's go into town."
