Book review

This is the format Blue Rose sent it to me in. I don't feel like adding the breakline tags right now. Bleh.

One ring to rule them all...Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkein

Blue Rose:
The Lord of the Rings books are three of the most excellent stories ever written. In my humble opinion, it has something for everyone and there is always something new to discover or remember every time you read it.Here we have a land of fantasy, the gore of war, the flights of imagination, the horror of evil, the pure and shining beauty of good, the sweetness of romance, the sorrow of death, the joy of victory of right over wrong, the fascination of exotic languages, the singing of songs, the peace of good friends, the wielding of power, the misuse of magic, and the grandness of a soft summer day on a hill in the shire. All of these present in the realm of one fantastical, amazing and awesome world. And everything is brought together almost to perfection. Some might not have the patience for the long descriptions, but those that do will have the richest and fullest pictures in their minds. For those who worry, don't the romance part is short and sweet, not mushy or fluffy at all. Maybe even a bit too dignified, but you can't really blame the author for that because 1: he was a guy and 2: it was written a long time ago when many things were a lot more dignified and respected. I personally like it this way though; there could have been a little more but that's just me. And let me warn those who do not like reading about graphic violence, this is a war story, just keep that in mind. That's all I have to say for now. Oh, and if you want more history of Middle Earth then read The Unfinished Tales (I'm pretty sure that's the title) put together by J.R.R. Tolkien's son Christopher. It has some rather fascinating and sometimes sad stories in it. In fact some of the stories may not be suitable for people under the age of 16 because of some of the tragic issues that they deal with. They aren't necessarily adult issues. just very tragic and heartbreaking. Ok, now I'm done.

The books

Sora:
First I'll say I love the movies. Not my favorite movies, but still above average. Now, the novels on the other hand... Well, I got through the Hobbit but could not get through Fellowship. Frodo stayed in the Shire so dang long!
I will now share with you something a friend once said to me (I don't remember the exact words but this is pretty close) that pretty much sums up how I feel about LotR:
"Frodo took a step. It wasn't just any step. It was was a slow and careful step. As the hobbit named Frodo put his foot down, he felt the cool Autum breeze around it. It was a pleasent breeze, not too cool or warm. Then, as his foot hit the ground, he felt the crispy Autum leaves crunch under his hairy hobbit foot. Then he took another step..."
Forgive me, but I find LotR painfully drawn out. I'll stick with Harry Potter. Action is good.
