Blue Rose's manga reviews

Wallflower by Tomoko Hayakawa I LOVE BISHOUNEN! ^_^ Could life be any more fantastical with four bishie guys living in your house? Sunako Nakahara does not see it this way. She was emotionally scarred by a guy in middle school so she hides away in her dark room, watching slasher movies and talking to anatomical models and skeletons. She hates the light and gets a nose bleed whenever a "creature of the light" looks at her. She calls the guys that because they are so beautiful and, most of the time, a lot more cheerful than her. The land lady, who is Sunako's aunt, told the boys that they could live in the house rent free if they could turn Sunako-chan into a lady, but that is proving to be a lot harder than it seems. ^_^ The boys may seem a bit... iffy from their cover pics, but they are very much into girls ^_^ and are in fact chased by them all the time. All in all, this series is a very funny read and I love watching them try to make Sunako into a lady
Beautiful series. Could not recomend ANYTHING more, but I will stick by the age rating because of certain references to adult matters.

DNAngel by Yukiru Sugisaki I LOVE HIWATARI!! ♥ If I ever saw a guy who looks anything like Hiwatari-kun I would glomp him for sure. ^_^ Daisuke is also very adorable and Dark is the epitome of hotness. ^_^ I don't know why guys don't cosplay as him because they would have girls fauning all over them. ^_^ This whole series just makes me smile. ^_^
Sora summarized the plot in her review so I will just say that the author does a good job developing her characters and helping them grow and learn. They are very well, rounded characters. And the mysteries in the story unfold nicely with just enough to keep you hooked but not enough to give away the ending. Rating: 5/5

My age rating: 12+ Daisuke and potraits of Dark, DNAngel

Hana Kimi by Hisaya NakajoThis is the series that started a trend with me. It's about an American-Japanese girl who dresses as a boy and signes up for an all boys school in Japan so that she can meet a boy who she really admired. He was a proffesional high jumper but he had an acident and stopped jumping and she wanted to find out why so she goes to his school and ends up becoming his room-mate. He finds out right in the first book that Mizuki is a girl, but she still doesn't know that he knows. Things are very awkward and extremely funny in the first few books, but they settle down with Mizuki only being mistaken for a girl every once in a while. Still lots of adventures and new faces keep the story going strong. The artist has a great style and the facial expressions are second only to Get Backers (an anime not related in any way). The story, although not that original, is written extremely well, and the character development moves along at a nice pace. Definitely a good read if you are amused by the idea of cross-dressing. And it has Bishounen!! ♥

Clover by Clamp One of my first manga by one of my favorite mangakas. CLAMP is genious when it comes to writing original stories and, combined with their phenominal artwork, they are Queens of the manga world. Even though this story is Very sad, I love the note of hopefulness trying to creep through, and the song that comes with each book is so beautiful. I love how CLAMP always has some kind of theme in the artwork of each series and in this series it is mechanicalness. (another word for NED ^_^) Everything has Screws and metalic lines and wires. Even some of the people have mechanical parts to them. If I get into the symbolism of it all we could be here for a few days so I'll let you discover it for yourselves. ^_^ The first two books are sequencial, but the third and fourth book happen before the first two. This may sound confusing, but I would still read them in order and then reread them and everything will make perfect sense.
Rating: 4/5 (because I'm not fond of sad endings)

Prince of Tennis by Takeshi Konomi Do not ask me why I like this. It is Only about tennis. There are maybe one or two short scenes that there is no tennis being played. It is one of the big mysteries of the universe that one may never know the answer to. Maybe the answer is because all the tennis players are bishounen, but I'm not sure about that because the art style is not that pretty; it has it's moments, but it can't be called pretty.
Ryoma Echizen is an excellent tennis player who comes to Seishun Academy to play tennis and he wows everybody with his skills, of course. As I said it's all about playing tennis.

Girl Got Game by Shizuru SeinoThis may be a rip-off of Hana Kimi, but I still find it funny and it continues my trend of being fond of cross-dressing girls and my odd fascination with sports

Wish by Clamp It is the perfect manga. No violence, little bad language, and love triumphs over all. Another wonderful romance from Clamp. Even if I find new series to love this will alawys be my first.
A man rescuses an angel. To repay him, the angel will grant his any wish. The man says he has everything thing he needs, so the angel vows to stay with him until he makes his wish. Soon another angel and a couple demons come to stay at his house as well. It's such a sweet and beautiful story and almost perfect in every way.
